Många tycker att The Killer är John Woos bästa film -hämningslöst ironisk, sentimental och mycket våldsam. Den är inspirerad av Jean-Pierre Melvilles thriller Le Samouraï. Chow Yun Fat spelar Jeff, en lejd mördare som när han ska skjuta ett gäng gangstrar av misstag råkar göra en klubbsångerska blind. För att få pengar till en ögonoperation åt sångerskan bestämmer han sig för att göra ett sista jobb. Samtidigt har han en enveten snut (Danny Lee) efter sig. Snart upptäcker de två männen att de har mer gemensamt än man kan tro och en osannolik vänskap uppstår. Det låter knäppt, men ironin, våldsnivån och Woos bildspråk gör att den sentimentala handlingen faktiskt fungerar. Massor av bra actionscener, flaxande duvor och kyrkor fyllda med böneljus. 
Kan det bli bättre? 
Personligen inte favoriten av regisören John Woo. 8/10 Snusdosor
